God Gives Revelation to Those Who Fast and Pray

Our young people need wisdom and revelation from God. This is necessary to live with holy understanding in this evil age, as Paul called it (Galatians 1:4). When Daniel committed himself to fasting and praying, the Lord gave him revelation and understanding. He began to see, hear, and understand what God was doing on the earth according to God’s Word (Daniel 9:2-3). He was also given revelation of what God was going to do in the future before Jesus returned. The 4th reason why I am calling us to pray and fast together for 21 days is to position our hearts to receive revelation from God (1 Cor. 2:9-14).

God sent an angel to Daniel in response to Daniel’s

fervent and faithful prayers.

The angel told Daniel, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, a word went out which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed” (Daniel 9:22-23). God releases divine insight in response to people praying and fasting. The angel in Daniel 10 said,

“Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them” (Daniel 10:12).

The Invitation of a Father

God is a good Father who is constantly inviting His children to ask Him to give them more (Luke 11). He invites everyone to sit with Him and receive council from His Spirit. He says that those who do that regularly with a pure heart will see, hear, and understand His Word clearly (Jeremiah 23:18-20). The Spirit of God agrees with the Word of God and declares,

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great

and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).

I want to see our young people fall in love with the Jesus Christ. He's the God who releases knowledge and understanding to those who fear Him (Psalm 25:14). All treasures of wisdom and knowledge and are hidden in Christ (Colossians 2:3). I want the next generation to discover every one of those treasures!

Treasures in Christ

Jesus told his disciples, “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will

  1. Guide you into all the truth

  2. Not speak on his own

  3. Speak only what he hears

  4. Tell you what is yet to come

  5. Receive from me what he will make known to you” (John 16:12-13, 15).

We must ask for the spirit of wisdom of revelation so we can know Jesus more (Ephesians 1:17).

God discloses mysteries (1 Corinthians 2:9-16) to believers who come near Him and ask Him for understanding (Proverbs 4:7). The invitation stands for all believers to receive revelation and ground it in the written Word of God, our final authority. God promises to raise up wise believers who “will instruct many” at the appointed time of the end of this age (Daniel 11:33, 35). I think we are at the beginning of that time frame based on the Word of God, and global signs and trends.

Let’s fast and pray for our sons and daughters to be awakened into their destinies, by the spirit of revelation from Jesus Christ, like Paul was (Galatians 1:10-17). Imagine if God gave a whole generation of young people similar knowledge and revelation that He gave to four young people 2,600 years ago in Daniel 1. “To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds” (Daniel 1:17).

I believe God, as a good Father, loves to release the secrets of His heart to the hungry. Jesus gave the secrets of the kingdom of heaven to His disciples thousands of years ago (Matthew 13:11), but Jesus has more secrets to share with those who will sit, wait, and listen. And now we have the indwelling Holy Spirit to speak to us, lead us, and empower us!
